I have a bank account and I am the primary person. If the account is closed by the bank, will the secondary person be responsible also for any balances owed?
If the other person you refer to is a joint owner of the account, not just an authorized signer, he or she will be jointly liable for any deficiencies in the account's balance. Language establishing "joint and several liability" is almost universally included in bank deposit contracts, either explicitly or by state statute.
