Deposit in My Account, but not by Me.

What do I do when I found that a deposit was made into my account that I did not make?

Contact your bank and call the matter to its attention. Unexplained deposits to your account could be a sign that someone is attempting to take over control of your account. It could also be nothing more than a mistake. Either way, your bank will need to know.

Don't even be tempted to consider the deposit as a windfall. Banks often discover that sort of mistake months later, when the person who should have received the money wakes up to the fact it isn't there. When they do, they pull the funds from the account that got the benefit of the error, with no concern about how much time has elapsed.
