Truncated Account Numbers

When I go to the bank to make a deposit, the receipt has my full account number. I thought they were only allowed to use the last few numbers on the receipt for security reasons. Is this correct?

While it would be more secure to truncate the account number on receipts, there is no specific requirement that a bank does so. There is a law requiring that credit and debit card numbers be truncated and expiration dates be masked altogether on machine-generated purchase receipts typically provided by merchants. That's because a lot of those receipts get tossed out, and printing card numbers and expiration dates is an open invitation to fraud. That requirement has been in effect since 2004 or 2006, depending on when the machine went into service. Although there is no explicit requirement that account numbers not be completely revealed on deposit receipts, there is a strong argument for doing so.
