I currently have a hold on my account. I was not told why the hold was put on it. What should I do?

Call your bank. Holds are placed for a variety of reasons and some are beyond the bank's control. If you made a deposit, the bank can choose to hold your account. If the bank receives a court order, they have to hold a set amount, or possibly all of the funds in the account. If you call and they say they can't tell you why, but that they know it should be there so you can't access your money, call your attorney. Banks are required to impose holds if the IRS tells them to, or a court imposes a judgment which could be from a lost defense case, child support or some other issue.
