Opening a Prepaid Credit Card Account

I have a lien on my checking account, and would like to open a prepaid credit card account, since I don't have use of my debit card. Am I able to do this?

Depending on what the hold on your account is for, whomever had that freeze placed may also be able to reach any account where you have a deposit. If a court or the IRS, as examples, had that freeze placed, they could reach other bank accounts as well. This may include any funds supporting a debit card.

If your bank froze the account because of money you owe your bank, they could not freeze the account at another bank without first going through a court and winning a judgment against you. Satisfy whomever is controlling your money. You may need a lawyer for this.
