The bank made a mistake and put some money in my account. Can they take it back three years later?
Untitled
The money was never yours, and it would simply be wrong to assume that it's yours after three years. The bank would probably not figure things out after three years without help, but if the money rightfully belongs to someone else who finally realizes it's not where it should be, the bank will wake up, smell the coffee, and reverse its error. There's no statute that makes that money rightfully yours after the passage of a specified period.
