Joint Account is Frozen; How do I get my money?

When I deployed, I got a joint account where 90% of the money is mine, so I could take care of my son while I was gone. However, the other person on the joint account has a child support freeze on the account. Do I have rights to get my money released?

A joint account means that each party has equal rights to all of the funds in the account. As the account was frozen, the other owner had rights to all the funds. If you were very lucky you could prove who had ownership in which part of the funds, but that really won't matter to the party attempting to take it. They generally want what they can get, and they can get it all.

The best you can do is have your co-owner resolve the issue so the hold is released, and get yourself another account. That account may be owned just by you, but may have an "authorized signer" on it. That is someone who can transact business for you, but has no ownership.
