If your friend's bank has a branch office in Houston, and if you have a deposit slip for her account or simply her account number, you should be able to make the deposit in Houston. If there is no branch in Houston, but you have a bank account in that city, you should be able to have your bank wire transfer the funds to her account in Louisiana. You'd need the name and routing number of the Louisiana bank, and your friend's account number there.
The first alternative is by far the most expedient, if it is available to you. There would also be no cost for the transaction. If you have to use the wire transfer option, your bank and your friend's bank will both impose a fee, but the transfer should be completed within a matter of a few minutes to an hour or so.
