Deposit in One Bank, Withdraw in Another: OK?

I have an account at a bank. Can I still get the same amount of money in that account from a different bank or do I have to get my money from the bank where I deposited the money?

If you deposited money at Branch A of Bank X and want to withdraw the funds at Branch B of the same Bank X, you should not have a problem, provided you can adequately identify yourself and document your ownership of the account. If, however, you deposited money at Bank X and want to withdraw that money at an office of Bank Y (a different bank entirely), you would only be able to make the withdrawal if there was an agreement between those two banks to honor such a request, of if you are cashing a check drawn on your bank account and Bank Y agrees to accommodate you by cashing it. Bank Y would not be under any obligation to do so. Another example might involve a bank account with Bank A in one part of the country, and your relocation to another area. In such a case, you could arrange to have your funds at Bank A transferred to you or to a new bank account at Bank B, near your new location.
