Is it proper and/or legal for a bank employee to read a document that requires a Medallion Signature Guarantee?
Untitled
Bankers who are asked to supply a Medallion Guarantee often peruse the document to be signed to ensure that it is a document they can place their guarantee on, (there are limits on certain levels of guarantee programs) and to see if there is anything the bank can assist with (reminding the customer to use certified mail or other traceable delivery modes, etc.). Your banker was probably trying to be helpful, rather than nosy. However, if you are concerned about confidential information in such a document, feel free to ask the banker to simply guarantee your signature and not look through it. Unless there are instructions for the guarantor, the banker should be happy to agree.
