Informing Account Holder of Offset Reason

A bank took all of my money out of my account three months ago. I know somebody who works there, and they snooped around and found out that the bank is investigating fraud! How long do they have to inform an account holder about the reason for taking an offset?

Depending on the reason for their debiting the money, they may have no requirement to notify you, or may be restricted on what they can say. It all depends on why the bank took the funds in the first place. State law may also apply. You seem focused on the notice of withdrawal from the bank more than asking why it was done in the first place.

Instead on having someone "snoop around", call the bank directly. You didn't indicate that was done. They'll either tell you what the reason was, tell you they can't comment on it, or tell you to get a lawyer. The latter may be your best option if you don't know what is happening.
