Finding Long Lost Account

My grandmother, who is deceased now, set up an account for me when I was ten years old. I believe it is still under her name; however, the bank book with my name is misplaced. What can I do to recover this missing account?

You can search for old funds that were inactive or dormant and turned over to your state, per state laws here. Don't pay for a company to search for an account to get you your own money back. Usually getting the funds back from the state are as simple as proving that they belong to you.

If not enough time has passed (usually just a few years is the trigger), all you can do is send a request to the institution, providing as much account information as you have. They can research their records of accounts and respond.
