Bank Gives Me Too Much Money: What to do?

I withdrew $80 from an ATM and then switched bank accounts two days later. When I closed my account, the bank gave me $80 more than they should have. What are the consequences of this?

The debit will attempt to clear from a closed account. That won't work, so they may force your account back open and debit the $80. This is for accountability. You owe the bank the $80. You should contact them and offer to repay it. If this doesn't happen, they may charge that off and you would have a derogatory credit report. That negative report may prohibit you from opening another bank account or from borrowing money.
