Changing 'Official Bank Branch'

How do I change my official bank branch if I've moved out of state from where I initially opened my Bank of America account? I'd like to make my local BOA branch my official branch. Had no idea that it mattered or that I had an "official branch", but apparently I do. Are there certain forms I need to fill out? Do all banks have an "official bank branch?"

No, the process of assigning a customer to a specific branch is not done by all banks. In some cases, this is done to balance the accounts between branches or track the customers generally served by a branch. It may also be done to separate customers from a bank that was acquired and is now a branch of the new bank or to separate customers geographically, where different fees and rates apply based on the region in which the customer resides.

If your bank has a practice of assigning customers to a branch, only they can tell you what is necessary to reassign that designation. It may take an address change, a telephone call or some other action on your part, the bank's part, or some of both.
