Opening Account with Birth/Marriage Certificates?

I want to open a joint account with my husband, but I don't have any ID, except for my birth certificate and marriage certificate. Can I open an account?

Most banks today want and require a government issued identification card with your picture on it. With the documents you have you should be able to initiate this process to get a driver's license or state ID card. These will come in handy for other uses as well, such as cashing a check or even conducting additional transactions at the bank.
