How are Multiple Accounts at Same Bank Insured?

I have a CD and a savings account at the same bank. Is each account insured for $100,000 FDIC?

Untitled

The standard FDIC insurance coverage limit is $100,000 per depositor, per capacity. All of a depositor's individually-owned accounts are combined and insured to the $100,000 limit, so your CD and savings account, if in your name alone, would be included under this one limit, and any balance over $100,000 would not be FDIC insured.

The same depositor has a separate $100,000 insurance limit on his/her interest in balances in accounts owned jointly with other individuals. There are other separate coverage limits on certain types of trust accounts, and a depositor's interests in retirement account balances are generally insured up to $250,000.
