Research http://www.unclaimed.org, which is a site maintained by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA). Each state has laws on the types of property that have to be surrendered and at what point bank accounts are considered abandoned. You'll want to focus on the states in which the bank was located and, if different, in which you and your aunt lived.
