Opening New Account after Old Account Closed

I had an account that was closed about a year ago. Is it possible for me to open a new account at a different bank?

Even if your old account was closed for cause, such as overdrafts or other mishandling, there may be a bank that will be willing to open a new account for you. You can call around to banks in your area to see if there are any that will do this. As your question suggests you are aware, banks today are generally more cautious about opening accounts for individuals who have had recent problems maintaining accounts at other institutions.
