Deferred Charge Causes Overdraft

I made a bank credit/debit card purchase online, apparently causing my account to appear overdrawn. However the charge did not go through until two days later, when enough funds were already in there to cover the charge. My bank charged me an overdraft fee anyway. Is this right? The funds were there when the charge went through.

Whether your bank's overdraft charges can be assessed based on a purchase hold or only on the actual transaction will be a matter covered in your deposit contract and the bank's disclosures to you.
