I have a problem with my bank. I made three mistakes on ATM transactions, and now they are closing my account saying that it is because of ATM abuse. I would like to know what could happen to my account and if there's a way that I can get in trouble with the law?
The bank is permitted to close your account, and it's possible that a report will be filed with the credit reporting agencies (credit bureaus). Such a report could make it difficult for you to obtain another bank account in the near future. You will, however, have an opportunity to add your explanation of events to the credit agencies' records, if you wish.
It's difficult to say how these events could result in any law enforcement action, since the nature of the mistakes you made in those ATM transactions is unknown. Unless you ended up with money you're not entitled to, you won't be getting any unwelcome calls from the authorities.
