Can debit card services withdraw a payment they made into your account without your consent?
If the payment to your account was in connection with a claim you made concerning one or more electronic transactions, including debit card transactions, it may have been provisional. In other words, the payment may have been made before the bank completed its investigation of your claim.
If a bank finalizes its investigation within the time periods allowed by law and determines that the original transactions were correct, or that no error occurred, it may reverse a provisional credit without your permission, but must provide you notice of its action. It must also make certain accommodations for any checks you may have written against the account.
