When will ATM card transfers be deducted?

Three weeks ago my switch card was debited for a large sum of money as I bought a car. I received two receipts for this transaction and have since received the registration documents for the car. On checking my account toda, I realize that the money has not been taken from my account. What should I do?

I don't really want to contact the garage as they made things really hard for me at the time. Please advise me on any time limit there is until the money cannot be taken from my account.

First and foremost, do not spend that money twice. Leave it there. There is no time requirement after which the seller of the car is not entitled to their money.

In most cases these transfers happen within a day or two. If this goes on for an extended period of a week or two, you might call the seller and tell them the funds are still in your account. There could have been an error somewhere in the payment stream and the right thing to do is help get it corrected.
