I left my ATM card in the machine and drove away after getting cash. I found out that someone used the card to take $300 from my account after I'd gone. My bank tells me it's my fault, and won't reimburse me. Can they do that?
Tell your bank when you believe you left the card behind (use the ATM withdrawal that you made as the reference point), and tell them once again that you did not authorize the $300 withdrawal that followed. The most that you should be liable for under federal law is $50.
