What does the bankruptcy committee have to do with the bankruptcy estate?
Under many of the various Bankruptcy chapters, namely Chapters 7, 9, and 11, the bankruptcy court may appoint a committee of stakeholders (creditors) who will administer the bankruptcy estate along with the trustee. The committee will have regular communications with the debtor and estate advisers and usually have a great deal of access to documents and personnel in the bankruptcy process.
