Following Suggestions of the Credit Counselor

Do I have to abide by the suggestion of the credit counselor under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) rules?

No. The law only requires that you participate in the counseling sessions. You are not bound by what the counselor recommends. However, if the counselor develops a plan for you that is feasible, you must file this recommendation along with other bankruptcy documents if you choose to continue with the bankruptcy petition.
