I have several business accounts at my bank, all with different tax ID numbers. I am the only signer on all the accounts. Can my bank transfer funds from one business to another to cover an overdraft balance without my consent?
If the ownership is common, the right of setoff should exist. If you are on each account, that may be the common ownership. If under your state laws and the way you have these accounts styled there is no common ownership, they shouldn't.
You can tell your bank that you want to opt out of any overdraft program. That way, if a check won't pay, they can return it unpaid and assess whatever fee is agreed upon.
