Opening an Account for My Business

I was a paralegal for a while, and I know how it is to file for a divorce. I want to start a business for individuals that want to settle for a non-contested divorce, to provide them with the documentation to do so with out all the legal fees. I want to know if I can open a bank account with my business name to deposit the checks or funds I will receive.

First, be certain that the business you are considering is one that you can legally operate. If you plan to offer services that venture into the practice of law in your state, you could have problems without being a member of the bar yourself. For a bank to open an account for a business, the bank should require documentation that the business is authorized or licensed to operate, along with evidence that you are authorized to act for the business, if it's not set up as a sole proprietorship.
