My husband had my name taken off a business account without my permission. When I asked how this could be legal, the bank representative said that had I been an officer of the company the bank could not have done this. I was the Vice President. The last time I checked, this is considered an officer. What can I do?
It's possible that the bank does not have current documentation of the business's status as a corporation. It may have been a sole proprietorship in the beginning. If it is indeed a corporation, the bank needs current documentation of that status, along with a certification by the clerk or secretary of the corporation concerning the most recent board of directors vote concerning who has authority to open and/or manage the company's bank accounts. If the bank is getting erroneous information from your husband, you need to discuss the matter with him.
