Company Name / Bank Accounts Confusion

Our company has merged with another company and we operate as a division of the other company. I've set up a bank account with the new name. Can I deposit a check made payable to our old name to our bank account that was set up with the new name?

You should be able to, if your bank understands the structure of the company as you've described it. It may be helpful to discuss that structure with the bank before running into problems.

You and the bank's representative may decide it would be a good idea to use an endorsement stamp reading something like "GHI Company, a division of QRS Company, pay to the order of MNO Bank, for deposit only," if it's likely that you will continue to receive checks payable to the division.
