If the business doesn't exist any longer, but the account remains open with you as an authorized signer, you can control the process by closing the account out yourself. Write a check for the balance payable to whoever is entitled to the funds in the account, allowing for any outstanding checks and bank fees. When the check clears and the balance is brought to $0, contact the bank and make sure it is closing the account out to prevent any further activity.
