How can my bank verify that my mortgage company actually endorsed a check made payable to me and the mortgage company, and that the mortgage company's endorsement wasn't forged?

If the mortgage company later says they neither received benefit of the funds nor authorized them to be distributed elsewhere, they or the bank will investigate, and legal actions may be initiated if there is fraud. Essentially, the bank looks for the stamp of the company and may follow-up on the signature.
