Obtaining Bank Records on Closed Accounts

How can I get records from a bank on an old account that is now closed?

If you are wanting old statements or disclosures, write to or visit the bank and explain what it is you want. Specify the account number, the date parameters and show proof that you owned that account. They can't release that information to just anyone.

Be prepared to pay a research fee, especially if they have to go far into the past. Older records are harder to find. This fee may easily be $50 or more, based on the hours spent researching it and they may want some of that payment up front. Also, ask the bank how far back they may have those particular records. If you want items from 15 years ago, they may not be available.
