I am having a hard time determining what a reputable non-profit credit repair company is. I know the FTC gives this information out, but it is not given in a way that is easy to read or find. What are some of the more reputable companies out there?
The FTC provides you with information to recognize scams and to help yourself. Click here.
If someone promises you that they can have records removed, we recommend you run. What can be done is that you can ensure that what is reported is accurate. If you are John Doe Jr. and you have credit for John Doe on your account, that is a problem. Your report must be your information. If someone shows you failed to pay a car loan and you did in fact not pay that loan, it can't just be erased. It is a correctly reported fact. We can't recommend any credit repair company, but we do urge you to see what you can do for yourself, and to not accept empty promises or pay fees for work not done.
