The owner of an account can have an authorized signer (sometimes referred to as a convenience signer) removed by sending a written notice to the bank holding the account. The owner should notify the individual being removed at the same time, to eliminate any confusion or miscommunication.
If the account owner gave the convenience signer a power of attorney, and the power of attorney was the authorization for the addition of the convenience signer to the account, it may be wise to revoke the power of attorney. Check with legal counsel to ensure that step should be taken.
