My mom had a CD on which I was the beneficiary. When she passed away, another name appeared on the CD. I've asked the bank if I could see the signature card to verify when the name had appeared. They said it was against their policy. How can I get a copy of the signature card? Can my attorney subpoena them for this information? What else could I do?
You may have to seek legal action. Otherwise you can only assume that the bank was diligent in verifying the authenticity of the request. That was their responsibility and banks are used to doing this every day. While you may feel scorned, the bank was correct in not showing you the account information on which you are not an owner and have no rights.
