Recovering Overdraft Fees from Bank

I deposited $300 in cash into my checking account. I had no idea that my bank had a cut-off time of 3:00 PM to post the money for the same day. I had some transactions go through before the money was posted the next day and got hit with $96 worth of overdraft fees. Is there any way that I can get this $96 back?

Yes. Ask.

Bankers are almost always sympathetic to reasonable requests like this. Call the bank, explain the situation, and ask for a refund. You'll probably get a favorable result.

As you noted, banks have cutoff hours, 3 p.m. is a common one, on each day's business. If you have any question about whether a deposit will post, ask your bank at the time of the deposit.
