Debiting Between Accounts

Can I debit funds from one checking account to another, and if so how?

If you are the owner of both accounts in the same bank, your bank may issue you an ATM or debit card that will allow ATM access to transfer funds between those accounts. You may also be able to have your bank set up online banking access to both accounts, with transfer capabilities.

If the accounts are separately owned -- for example, an account in your individual name and a second account in the name of your business, the bank is less likely to permit direct access. You might have to have two online accounts, one for each checking account, and that might permit you to issue transfer instructions. Your bank would be the best place for further information.
