My son put his girlfriend as authorized signer on his checking account. He overdrew and closed his account. Is this poor girl also responsible for the money owed to the bank?
If she was only an authorized signer, and not a joint owner, she should not be liable for your son's mishandling of the account. If she received a copy of the account contract (authorized signers often don't receive a copy), she should review it carefully to make sure her signature only appears in an area of the account contract form for authorized signers.
