Bank Closed All My Accounts: How Do I Live?

My bank closed all my accounts citing that I'm on ChexSystems and/or early watch. I don't understand or know what that is or what they are talking about. I asked where they are getting this information, all I got was an 800 number.

I have all my direct deposits going into the accounts and they won't give me access to my money to pay my bills. How am I supposed to live (buy food, gas to get to work etc.)I was told that there is nothing I can do about it (they were real nasty about it) until they close the accounts around the 17th of this month, and then they will send me a cashier's check in 7-10 business days. I need help!

You should call the toll free number the bank gave you to find out exactly what information is being provided to your bank that has caused it to end its business relationship with you. After all, that information will be shared with other ChexSystems participating banks where you attempt to open new accounts. If the information at ChexSystems is incorrect, you will learn how you can dispute it.

If your account balance at your soon-to-be former bank is positive, contact the bank again, and ask if there is something that can be done to get your funds to you sooner. It sounds like the individual you spoke with last time was less than helpful. Its unfortunate that not every banker is as good dealing with customers all the time as he or she ought to be.

If you approach the bank with a positive attitude and still feel that you get shabby treatment, don't hesitate to escalate your request to a higher level. Delaying your access to your funds for another two weeks is excessive.
