Bank Refuses to Give me Cash from Account

I had a large amount of money deposited into a new checking account. The accountants assured me that the transfer was completed. The bank is saying that I would have to borrow money if I wanted to receive cash. The bank representative stated that the account only represents figures at this time and not money. Can a bank refuse to give me cash from my own account?

You haven't said what form the transfer was supposed to have taken, or who the accountants are that said the transfer was complete. If the checking account is in a U.S. bank, and the transfer into the account was completed by wire transfer, the bank should provide you access to your funds no later than the business day next following the banking day on which the funds were received.

Your statement that the bank representative made, that the account only represents figures at this time and not money, doesn't fit any type of checking account with which we are familiar. Consequently, it's difficult to say anything definite about the situation you've described.
