I deposited an out-of-state check. The bank said it would put a five day hold on the funds and gave me a receipt with the date the funds would be available. I sent them an email asking for the money to be available, since the check has cleared and they are now telling me I wont be able to draw for two more days. Don't they have to stand to the original promise on the receipt?

The bank should be bound by its first notice to you unless it provides another written notice indicating why it has delayed your access further. It's possible that such a notice has been mailed to you, but you haven't yet received it.
