What is the difference between current balance and available balance?
Untitled
The current balance of an account is the balance that would be printed on your bank statement if it were prepared and given to you today. It is the net amount of all deposits and credits to your account, less all the checks, withdrawals, fees and charges deducted from your account.
If a portion of your current balance is from a recent deposit of checks, and if your bank delays your access to some part of that deposit, your current balance is reduced by the amount of its hold of those funds, and what's left is your available balance. Other reductions that might be reflected in the available balance are any amounts held for checks that have been cashed on your account during the processing day or for debit card purchases that are pending.
