In September 2005, my checking account was closed. The bank says it isn't, even I though my member number and PIN will not allow me to log into my account, nor have I received any statements since 2005. Isn't this considered a closed account?

An account is closed when the bank or credit union says it is closed. It may be that your account is inactive and the institution has suspended internet access and statement printing.
Contact the bank and ask about your balance and ask that the account be reactivated or closed. If the balance is overdrawn, you'll have to make a deposit to bring the balance to $0 before the bank will allow the account to close off its books.
