Opening Account with Personal Check

When opening a new checking account, would most major banks such as Chase, BoA, Wells Fargo, etc., allow me to use personal checks written to me as a initial deposit?

There is no reason that you would not be able to open an account with personal checks payable to you. Ask specifically about your bank's funds availability policy regarding such a deposit, to avoid any misunderstandings. Banks recognize that not all their new customers will have cash or bank checks to open accounts.
