Linking My Problems to Fiancee's Account

My fiancee has a checking account. She has perfect credit. I have some bad credit, including a few judgments. We were thinking of trying to add my name to her existing account, however we worry that one of the judgments on my credit will possibly clean out her checking account and take all the money, leaving us broke. Any suggestions? Can they clean out a joint account?

One of your creditors could obtain a judgment against you or levy against the judgment, reaching any account in which you have an ownership interest. That includes your fiancee's account if you join her as a co-owner. You probably shouldn't maintain a joint account unless your debt problems are resolved.
