Bank Wants to Know the Source of My Money

I had a fraudulent check paid into my account. The bank froze the account and then told me that I have fourteen days to remove the funds. When I tried to do this, they wanted to see where my funds have come from and where they are going. Can they do this?

Yes, the bank is entitled to ask such questions. You aren't compelled to answer them, but the bank can decide with whom it will do business. If the bank is not satisfied with the answers you provide, it can and should, close your account.
