I deposited a check into my account last Thursday. It cleared this morning. How long does it take the money to actually be put into my account? I know if I take the money out now and the check bounces later I have to pay it back. I want the cash to be there so this doesn't happen. It was a check from Community Bank in Miami, FL for $1300, and my bank is Ohio Valley Community Credit Union, Hannibal, OH.
The funds are already in your account, subject to the charge-back rule if the check bounces. If you made the deposit on Thursday, September 30, your bank should make the funds available for your use no later than Monday, October 11 (that's the seventh business day after the day of your deposit), assuming the bank gave you a notice of the hold. If they gave you no notice (and assuming your account isn't less than a month old), you'd have access to the funds as of Monday, October 4 (the second business day).
Your real question is when you can consider that the deposited check won't bounce. If the bank in Florida said today, Tuesday, October 5, that the check has cleared, that bank would have only until midnight tonight to reverse its decision to pay it and send it on its way back. After midnight, any attempt to return the check would be late.
