I reside in California and would like to name a beneficiary for my checking account. The person who would be the beneficiary lives outside of the US. My bank says that the person has to live in the US and/or have a social security number. Is this true? If so what other options do I have?
Unless California law says something on the issue, we are not aware of any law on which the bank is basing its statement.
