My bank has frozen my account with nearly $500 in it. I had a couple of checks that bounced but they have since been paid. The bank will not unlock my account unless I make a deposit to cover everything they say will repost.
It has been two months now and I can get no help from the bank. What can I do? I really need this money. I sent them a copy of the $500 check which they said they would take as proof I paid, but so far it is still frozen. When I look online, there are also a couple of payments and a transfer which are marked as cancelled, but the bank keeps insisting they will go through. (I even asked them to cancel all payments and transfers.) Help!!
If you are trying to deal with the bank's call center to get your problem resolved, it would be better for you to contact a branch and make an appointment to calmly sit down and discuss this problem with someone with whom you can make eye contact. Bring your checking account records, and print out the online page that shows the payments or transfers as cancelled.
If you're dealing with someone in person, try using the bank's call center. This may sound like a suggestion that you use one part of the bank against another. While you could see it that way, it as a situation in which you're having trouble communicating your case in one way, and this is a suggestion that you try a different approach in the hope you'll make a connection that will allow you to get your point across.
Sometimes, people just can't "click" when trying to communicate, so just try to "click" with a different individual at the bank. Please understand that it might be that the bank isn't getting its message effectively to you, rather than the other way around.
