Names Printed on Joint Account Checks

We have a joint account. Are we required to print both names on the checks?

There's no law or regulation on printing names on the check. The standard bank practice/policy is to have the checks match the way the account is styled, so if it's an account with one owner, that owner's legal name is on the check. If there are two owners, both names appear. Even if your bank would allow you to deviate from that practice, you should think long and hard about whether you would want to, because you may encounter problems in getting a merchant to accept a check if it doesn't show who owns the account.
